Black Blade Service Partners' business model is structured for selling services. Service Partners help their customers deploy, configure, and maintain the products they have purchased. They enable their customers to integrate the products in their organizations' business processes.

One Thing Leads to Another

The hardest part of getting services work is converting a prospective customer into an active customer. Getting the prospect to sign the first contract can take many months of sales work. Let us do that for you. As a Black Blade Service Partner, we will refer you to customers who have purchased one or more Black Blade products and have expressed a desire to augment those product purchases with services.

Once we refer one of our customers to you, that customer becomes your customer. You have very easily gotten "your foot in the door". Once you start servicing Black Blade products for the new customer, you can easily suggest additional ways to grow your relationship.

Service Potential for our Products

Different Black Blade products have different service requirements.

docBlock: The docBlock adds virtual document support to the SharePoint platform. It allows multiple users to edit the same document at the same time without overwriting each other’s changes or locking the entire document. The docBlock tends to generate a lot more services work. The work is primarily in the form of creating and maintaining the virtual document templates, showing how to take advantage of a more granular security model in virtual documents, and doing some content manager training. This is a good product to service if your goal is to establish a longer-term relationship with a new customer from the first project.

SharePoint Zip: SharePoint Zip allows users to upload or download multiple files and folders in SharePoint simultaneously by packaging the files into Zips. This is an enormous time and bandwidth saver. SharePoint Zip generates service work for initial setup and configuration, but does not generate much on-going services work. This is a nice product to service if your goal is to gain entry into a new customer with a small project and extend your presence with other projects.

Why doesn't Black Blade do Services?

We have focused on product development, pure and simple. Managing a services company requires a very different business model and financial management structure. We want to stay focused on what we do well, and share our success with our partners.
